Following last year’s inaugural event and back by popular demand, CanTeen is bringing its mass indoor cycling challenge, The Crank, to The Cloud in Auckland on Friday 13 September. Seeing this as a great fund raiser I decided to go to Auckland and show my support.
With over 1,100 people taking part in 2012, CanTeen aims to get 1,500 cycling and fitness enthusiasts, corporates and sports teams involved in the challenge.
The Crank will see approximately 180 RPM bikes, donated for the event by Les Mills, fill The Cloud on Queens Wharf.
A team of Les Mills’ superstar RPM instructors will lead riders through 12 hours of cycling.
It’s a fun and safe way to burn some calories, have a laugh, and enjoy some healthy competition with your work colleagues or mates.
The event registration covers the cost to put on the event, so in order to raise money for CanTeen participants are encouraged to fundraise. The money raised will go towards educational, psychosocial and recreational activities aimed to support, develop and empower young people in New Zealand living with cancer.
CanTeen is the only New Zealand peer support organisation for young people aged 13 to 24 living with cancer as a patient, sibling or bereaved sibling.
You can register on the day or via Canteen The Crank registration page
Below is a peak at the setup in The Cloud Auckland. Setup included 2 large display screens either side of the main stage. Approx 180 Body Bikes were setup around the stage in a semi circle. On stage there were 4 instructor bikes.
Here is me looking so serious.
In total they raised $61,000 which is just fantastic. I am looking forward to the next crank event.
